From the retail cost of your book, Amazon will take 30 percent. Waterfront then takes 30 percent of the 70 percent received from the sale. This translates into authors getting 49 percent of the total retail ebook price. In most instances with traditional publishers, authors would only receive 25 percent of wholesale ebook price. So for example, on a ten dollar ebook you would receive $4.90 per copy as opposed to publishing with traditional publisher where you would receive only $1.25 to $1.75 per book depending upon discount. This is great opportunity for authors who can actively promote and sell their ebooks.
